Global quality

Moellhausen’s interpretation of quality is related to all aspects of its business, in a “global quality” formula. Consequently, the Moellhausen Quality System (MQS) governs all operations of the company and not merely the activities of QC laboratories.
Integrated criteria characterize the MQS, which basically aims to:

  • Provide the purchaser with the best product consultancy, so that the quality/price ratio of the materials supplied is specifically purpose-oriented;
  • Guarantee continuity of supplies in terms of quality standards;
  • Ensure optimal management of urgent requirements in terms of delivery times and the availability of hard-to-find materials;
  • Perform analytical control in line with basic needs and be ready to extend such controls to the highest levels when so required by the type of supply;
  • Enhance company capabilities through the integration and coordination of production, R&D, analytical laboratories, marketing and logistics;
  • Keep the efficiency of  the company’s customer service , administration and financial departments at the highest level;
  • Establish the highest possible level of harmonisation of operating standards of the production units working for Moellhausen, excluding all those that are not up to specific minimum requirements;
  • Meet demands in terms of the quality of the supplied products, and promote, in relation to the products, the constant improvement of physico-chemical standards of naturalness and purity.

A comprehensive system of procedures is implemented for supplier qualification, laboratory testing of raw materials and products, logistics, and technical-commercial services for customers.
Short delivery times can be guaranteed thanks to our awareness of the exact capacity of individual production units and the integration of the facilities in an extended network of production plants and logistic warehouses.


Integration of resources

Moellhausen presents itself on the world market as a company capable of providing, at any time, a large number of raw materials of outstanding quality and at competitive prices.   The current capacity of the company is the result of integration of technologically advanced production units, R&D, quality control, logistics, marketing, administration and finance. The main benefits of this integration, which is accomplished by means of an articulated quality system, are as follows:

  • Offering of the most comprehensive possible range of raw materials in each business sector
  • Constant monitoring of the chain of all raw materials supplied
  • Development of a dynamic structure that is capable of adapting rapidly to match new market requirements
  • Development of a lean structure that is commercially and financially stable, minimising investments in activities subject to intensive competition and investing available resources in the creation, in several countries, of structures that are able to operate as far as possible on a stand-alone basis with respect to the Moellhausen overall mission.

In-depth technical-scientific know-how and modern managerial financial expertise are the essential resources in the drive to achieve the high level of integration described above, and without which no positive results could be achieved. It should suffice to consider that the Moellhausen production system is composed of more than 35 facilities operating in 19 different countries, all of which are fully qualified on the basis of the assessment of the manufacturing technologies and analytical checking of the quality of the raw materials used and the resulting product batches.


Quality control of raw materials and products

The quality of raw materials and products is measured by means of conventional analytical tests (traditional chemical and physical characteristics, statistical sensory tests, gas-chromatographic analysis) and non-conventional tests (mass-spectrometry, etc.); in this connection, Moellhausen makes use of its own analytical equipment and, through ongoing research agreements with chosen institutes, it has ready access to the most advanced instrumentation and analytical technologies whenever necessary. Analytical tests designed to measure the compliance of products with stated specifications are performed on each product batch. Moreover, counter-checking statistical tests are carried out periodically on goods stored in logistic warehouses and on the outgoing products.
The sales network cooperates with highly qualified technical staff in defining the characteristics of products required by the market, and in developing quality programmes that comply with the most diverse types of customers: converters, compounders, direct users.
